I am the opposite of Roger. I hate the feel of the camera without the grip. It feels too small and light in my hands. I am used to heavier cameras so the grip makes my 30D feel more balanced for me.

I'm the same way Scott. I prefer the grip. Not because of the extra battery, but because of the size. I haven't bought one for my 40D yet, but I used it all the time on my 10D.

I find the grip to be useful personally. Though it does add extra weight. It does save me from shooting in unnatural positions, as well as showing off my arm pit.

I try to use a grip 100% of the time. Makes the cameras much steadier for me.
