Default Rebel xT malfunction

I was doing a shoot for a childrens book last weekend and my Rebel xT locked up on me. I even tried to turn it off and when I did, it remained on! and none of the controls functioned at all. It seems to be fine now. Has anyone else had this problem?

Any camera can lock up and or lock on. Its a computer, after all --- and we've all seen our computers lock up over the years. Here is what you can generally try that will work. First try on and off switch. If that does not work, try turning it off, and then remove the battery. That will guarantee to turn it off. Now put the battery back in and turn on. This usually works. Or you can remove the lens, and put it back on. Also always check that the lens has not got set to manual focus mode as that will make you think a camera is locked up sometimes.
Cheers,
rfs
