Default How to manage backdrops?

In the past year I have obtained a backdrop stand and about 6 different backdrops (one is 18' long and I love using it). But, I am looking for some inexpensive ways to manage them. I like to hang one over the other so they have the wrinkles fall out. But it is pretty cumbersome to move them around. I also purchased bags to keep them in...but again, they get wrinkled. When I first received them...I ironed them to remove the wrinkles. I don't want to do that again. Do you have any tips to offer?

I've seen tubes for this purpose, but haven't used them. I bought a few backdrops to play with, and ended up only using them 3 or 4 times. I enjoy shooting outdoors better.
But as I get better with lighting and get a better lighting setup I'll probably end up getting one of the motorized backdrop setups. I've been eyeing them, but due to the price I haven't been able to justify them yet.

some carpet stores will let you have some old roles from inside the carpet. Just like the ones in xmas wrapping except much longer and sturdier. Not all carpets have these but some do and shouldnt be that hard to get.

Cheers

I use 2" PCV pipe from the Super Hardware Stores (look in the plumbing area). The are 12' long, and work well. As far a way to hang them without spring clasps...Go to an alteration shop if no one is handy with sewing. And have a 2.5" Loop made at one end. That way, you will have no binding from clamps from the get-go. The floor makes a great area to roll them back up. then a clamp can secure the BD from unrolling. BTW...The BD support rod will slide nicely in 2" PCV pipe. Or you can drill holes at the end of the PCV for your BD Stand studs.

For Fabric Backgrounds You can Use Hospitial Trac,And Layer Them.
For Paper Or Vynial Rolls There Is a Company That Makes A Machanical Back Ground System That Is About A Third The Cost Of The Motorized Version.Remember,This Is A Business.Your Aim Is To Be Profitable. There Are A lot Of High Priced Gagets Out There That No Doubt Make Things Easyer. But Also Are Profit Eaters.Even If They Are Tax Deductable!
Many Good Items Can Be Found In The Back of Pro Magazines.Rangefinder,PP Of A.Etc
However if You Do A Little Reseach ,You Can Buy Hospital Trac From Medical Supliers SOME TIMES Cheeper.

Thanks! Great idea. Although I don't have a business yet, I am colleting and beginning to shoot like a beginning business. Right now my real job is paying for an expensive hobby.

Good thought. I had not thought about the tax deductable. That may be enough to push me to at least make this a very small business.

I usually use a spray bottle. Spray a light mist of water on the backdrop. Enough to moisten it up but not soak it. Of course, do this will it's hanging. I usually spray it about 15 minutes before a shoot.
