Default My First MX!

Had a great time, and got some photos I'm quite happy with. Here are 6 from the 1400 or so that I managed to capture.

Your C&C are most welcome!

Were all 1400 just as good? Can you tell me the general settings you were working with?

Well... I'd be telling a lie if I said that all 1400+ images looked as good as these right out of camera, but I had short-listed about 300 before picking these for posting. The rest require some work, of course, but mainly it will be a crop and curve adjustment to get pretty close to these. I tossed out about 100 overall that were out of focus or where I clipped someone in half.

As for settings, I went AV mode for most of the day (with a short run in Manual) at apertures ranging from 2.8 to 5.6, and switched between my 24-70L and my Sigma 70-200 EX DG APO. Most of the day was ISO 320, but there were a few times I would increase or decrease as the cloud cover changed the light. Heavy use of the Exposure Comp as the background went from bright grey sky to dark trees.

I think I might try Center weighted or even spot metering next time.

All images shot in JPG Fine with Neutral Picture Style (Canon 30D).

Cheers
