Default Top Fuel Dragsters

I took this photo in August 2007 at Martin, Michigan. I was at some distance from the action, but was able to capture the tires deforming and the flames, etc.

Maybe this summer you should ask for a pit pass and get closer.. the flames sort of wash out in the day light.. I wonder if a dusk shot would show more.

Here's another top fuel "dragster" .. the F-15C. Seeing your dragsters with the flames reminded me of this shot. Unfortunately, I decided to test higher ISO settings for grain... and wouldn't you know the only one where I got a good look at the afterburners was one of those. Ah well, despite the grain it's halfway decent. And...flames!

You are caught in an awkward spot. My advice would be to either get higher in the stands so you can see more of the cars and less background or closer in order to catch more detail. If you move further back you can see more of the flames and the track in front of the cars, move forward and see more of the cars coming toward you. One of these days I will figure out posting pictures again and put up some examples.
