Smile Berrigan Drive Fire Scene

This is my first attempt at photojournalism.

This condo buliding fire was on 13/November/2007 was still under construction at the time. The fire started, accidentally by a construction worker. The good news no one was injuried.

Camera: Canon Rebel Digital XT
ISO: 1600
Shutter Speed: 1/4sec
Aperature: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55mm

I didn't have my tripod with me, so I held my breath and snapped the shots.

Its smoke. You could see the smoke column from 3/4 of mile away in the dark. Some of the firefighters I spoke to never seen a fire like this in a long time. The second picture is showing when the smoke cleared up a bit. When I first got to the scene, an hour after the fire started, I could hardly see any of the fire trucks or firefighters in front of the building.

The first picture shows what is left of the 3-story building. The front of the building was burnt down to ground level. I could not get any closer without getting in the way and breathing in the toxic smoke.

If any one is interested I will put up an album of the pictures I have, 32 in all that I took that night.
