El Gordo Gato

His name is Fastball but I called him Fat Cat. I read a book in which the character asserted that cats take on the characteristics of their name so I decided to spiff up his nickname and make it more distinguished- El Gordo Gato is Spanish for Mr Fat Cat. He loves it by the way - his full title is now "El Gordo Gato - the Macho Kitty".
Anyway - I was practicing still life with a tartan rug, a red basket and some red apples (good practice to blend same primary colors BTW) and he decided that he wanted his picture taken. The ONLY cat I've ever known that wants to have it taken. Actually - he just wanted to be the center of attention - so I repositioned the light - grabbed a reflector card and took it before he changed his mind. I personally love it. What do y'all think?

The cat is beautiful. I think the rug and lighting are a great fit for the photo. But, IMO the basket is too new and the apples and basket are distracting. I think if the basket was in the background and more in shadow this photo would be great.

The key is the cats eyes and whiskers are sharp.
