Default The Blushing Moon

Lansdcapes is the closest category I could think of

Exposure with a 1240mm F/13.8 mirror lens. Processing included boosting saturation (a lot) and an unsharp mask.

C&C are welcome.

Paul

Very nice shot. And the caption is "once in a blue moon". Did the blue show up when you adjusted contrast or did you add it some other way?
Cheers,
rfs

Thanks, rfs! No selective color processing was done: I just raised the saturation level. The different colors mark different types of rocks and volcanic formations. Amazingly, all these colors are there just not very obvious to the naked eye. Here's a good article I found about it, after taking the picture:

Color of the moon

Paul

Thank you! The lens is a Meade 90mm ETX telescope. You can find these for about $150 on the used market. I happened to have one as a gift that I've not used for about 10 years.. until last night

Paul

Interesting, thanks for sharing it. Your color looks more like graffiti than that shown in the link you provided. I wonder why.

Not really sure.

For one, the images at the link were done at a much higher resolution, and using many stacked exposures. Perhaps that had something to do with it (they used 10" diameter telescope, while I used a 3.5") Or maybe it's the type of processing I did to tease the color out.

Next time I have a chance, I'll try a larger telescope to see if it makes a difference.

Regards,

Paul
