Welcome to the family... I too started many years ago, when as a youngster I was given a Kodak Hawkeye film camera. Got my first SLR which was a Mamyia Sekor 1000 DTL when I was in Junior High School (7th or 8th grade). I had to stop shooting during my relationship with the woman who became my second wife due to some issues which came up. After our divorce I grabbed my cameras and started shooting again.. I cant believe I had ever stopped.. (stupid me).

Come back frequently, build up your albums here, and post often.

Default Hello from Sarasota Florida

Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. I've been shooting most of my life, but really didn't start to shoot seriously until a few years ago. Believe it or not, I started with a small c110 camera, when I was stationed in Panama back in 1976. I then bought a Canon AE-1 program, 35 mm camera, and a 70-210 zoom lens, when I was stationed in Korea, back in 1980. I was flying for the army at the time and took it everywhere. I put the camera in the closet years ago and didn't start shooting again until 4 years ago. It was then, with my new canon digital rebel I was really able to learn. I guess I needed the instant feedback that comes with digital, to really understand what the heck shutterspeeds and apertures really did.

My wife has been asking me ever since, when does it end, as I am always wanting more equipment. First it was I needed a better flash, then reflectors, then off camera brackets, then better lens for shooting birds ( I thought she was going to kill me when I bought my canon 100-400mm IS and 100mm macro lens at the same time ), then it was studio lighting, backdrops ect, ect, ect. When I got back into shooting it was for realestate, birds and landscapes. I really love shooting swimsuit models and insects. I have shot just about everything, but have not even come close to mastering anything. I guess I still don't know, what I really want to concentrate on shooting, I'm just having fun and learning with every click of the shutter.

If anyone comes to Sarasota or close to it, let me know, I would gladly help you on your shoots, I hold a real mean reflector.

My wife asks the same thing. She's starting to understand the differences in the lenses now though.

For my wife it was the Tamron 17-50 followed a month later by the 40D, followed a month later by getting rid of the Tamron and getting a 70-200 F4L,
followed 2 months later by trading the 70-200 for a 17-40 F4L. I still want the 28-105 and the 100-400 but I've been put in a holding pattern for a few months. I had to get her Blue and Gold Macaw first to keep her happy. <G>

And I'll make the same offer for the East coast of Florida. Orlando down to Palm Beach. I hold a mean reflector, and fetch a great cup of coffee.

Welcome also...
There is a never ending flow of "Stuff" we all want or need..I call it G.A.S. (Gadget Acquisition Syndrome)..

It can consume all of our disposible income if we don't watch it.

Looking forward to seeing your galleries too.

Now, what can I sell to buy that Olympus FL50 flash ????
