So.. how about some comments about the "treatment" I did on these two images?

The first thing that jumps out at me with both of these images is the difference in the skin tones between her body and her face. That is a major distraction for me in both images, although the second is better then the first. I also think a more narrow DOF field would be helpful here.

In addition to overdoing the spotlight effect (assuming that was part of the treatment) I think the conversion has left the images too flat.

Thanks Scott.. I think the difference is due to the "viginetting" I used in PS. maybe I did get a little too much in it. I was trying for a old style B&W effect. I was trying to make it a bit flat as well. I did this to another image, and Kristy liked it.

not so much of a "spotlight".. but after desaturation I used the "viginette" aspect in Photoshop.

I vignette portraits all the time. but if you are using the feature in PS to do I have another suggestion.

Use the laso tool to select the area you dont want effected and then invert the selection and feather the selection so it isnt too blunt of a change. Then use levels to darken or lighten the area you want effected. This gives you much better control of the vignette.

You can then also apply a little gaussian blur to the background as well to give the appearance of a narrow DOF.

cool, Thanks for the tip.. now if I could only find the "Viginette" tool some where other than when PSCS2 opens the "raw" image, I would try it.

I am really not much of an expert on PS.. I still havent mastered all of the tools and features. Untiol I get a tablet and oen, I am stuck with the mouse.. Due to the nerve damage in my hand, I am not real good with the mouse for selecting things. LOL.. but I am trying..
