Default New cameras...

Just curious if anyone has had any experience with the newest DSLR's from Nikon, Canon and Olympus and what are your thoughts?

Hey Rolando, I'm in!

I am still very happy with my Canon 1D MkII, the Mk III's look nice but they have had a ton of trouble with them.

I am VERY impressed with the new Nikon D3 and would contemplate switching back to Nikon, after being away for over 10 years, but selling off all my Glass would be a pain..

I would love to get my hands on the 1ds marklll but I dont see that happening anytime soon. I played a little with the 1d mark lll and am considering that. I like it.

Default 1Ds MkII

I purchased a 1Ds MkII late last year and I have been extremly happy with it. I had a huge scare at the Virgin Islands last year when it got wet and stopped working for two days, but I have seen no adverse effects since then. I love it!! I am not sure I would shoot anything else. Okay, maybe a Hasselblad...

I have the new Nikon D300. Functionally, it is a major step up from the D200 and D2x. The new auto focus system is amazing. When I was in Cancun last month, I lost my Sekonic on the first day I was there and had to use the D300's in camera meter. I was surprised by how much more accurate the D300's metering is than the metering in the D200, Finally, I am astonished by the relative lack of noise at higher ISO ranges (800) compared to the D200.

I cant wait to get my D300 in the next few weeks. My current D70S has been a real trooper these last two years and had brought me many great pics, but I am sure my D300 will bring all new joys and cant wait.

I shoot with the Canon 40D and love it. I especially like the self-cleaning sensor, buffer and fast shutter. Surprisingly (maybe less so to some here) I don't really use live view.../shrug. I find it more natural to look through the viewfinder.

Well, I just bought a Oly E-510 (E-520 was not even leaked yet), so it "WAS" still "Top Dog san E-3" a month ago

I like it. I just did an indoor event at my sons school. I will post one or two tonight). The ISO 800 shots are surprisingly good.. My Canon Xti could not and did not deliver such nice low noise files..The Key...Olympus allows you to change the sensor's noise filtering IN CAMERA, from "Off" to "High".

Glad I changed camera systems.

I believe that it's mostly an irrelevant issue anymore......What we are seeing, generally, are improvements on what we all are familiar with, rather than any breakthrough technology.....I prefer to hone my work to a higher artistic level than to pursue all the recent tweaks...regards...Bob
