I still think I want to get my hands on the Sigma SD-14, I love my SD-10, but would love to check out the 14..

I just picked up my 40D earlier this week, still exploring it's features.

I have the 40D. I love it. It doesn't feel as sturdy as the 10D, but it's much better than the 20D and 30D. The quicker "wake" time was the biggest seller for me. There were several shots I missed with the 10D. I skipped the 20D and 30D because they didn't seem like big enough jumps for me, and the 10D did everything I needed at the time. I'm amazed with the quality of the higher ISO's with the 40D. Especially since I went to some L glass at the same time. I've only used the Live View function once, and that was shooting some Astro photography stuff. I can see where it would be useful for Macro shots, but for what I do it's not a big need. It's a great check box feature. (a check box feature is something we see a lot of in the software industry. It demos like gang busters, everyone screams for it, but nobody uses it.)

In regards: to no breakthroughs...

I wouldnt say that, Nikons latests D3 and D300 (I have the D300) are considered breakthrough camera. I can only attest to the D300 and I must say it blows away in all regards my D70.

I upgraded my 1dsm2 to a m3, I like it more than the m2 but starting to notice issue with lenses that were great on the m2 and are pretty much unusable on the m3. The rumour mill is saying that the m3 just pushing some of the glass beyond its capability. So the only zoom lenses I was using the 24-70 is now gathering dust in the cupboard. Hopefully its not true and a miracle firmware will allow me to start using it again.

Duane,

I wouldn't call 10D and 5D squeeking by. I plan on getting a 5D either at the end of this year or first quarter next year. I plan on waiting for the replacement to come out first. But I do regret selling my 10D when I bought my 40D. I wish I had kept it as a backup. It was a great camera. If I didn't plan on getting a 5D, I'd look into getting another 10D as a backup.

I have had the pleasure to shoot for one day with the D3. Needless to say that i was very pleased with the results of this camera. The noise handling is one of, if not the best that i have seen to date. Would i buy this camera, YES. In fact, i am saving up for it.

Now that the D700 is out, i may get it instead of the D3 since there are only a couple of differences. One being speed. But i don't really shoot sports. So i really don't care for that. So getting the D700 would be a savings of 2k.

Plus i have not had the chance to actually test the D700. I have scheduled a rental of one for one week with a Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 FX lens. I am going to put this baby to a harsh test. After all saving 2k is a huge plus.
