New Challenge Posted

We have a social group here so I started a Challenge Group.
Each week I'll post a new challenge. You can find the social group my pulling the quick links tab and going to social groups.

You can create a social group of your own and join the Challenges. I hope to see all of you there.

Note if you have a challenge in mind you would like to see please PM me and I will post it.

Post photos in both an album marked challenges and in the group so we can comment directly to your photo. I see this as a way to have more people visit your photos and critique them, or out and out admire
I love this place

Since there isnt really a way to comment without losing the challenge in post drops in the social groups please discuss this idea here.

I'm a little confused, and possibly others are also. Where do we post our challenge photos? Are you saying that we each create our own Album and call it challenges, and the place the photo there? If so, I'm not sure that will work, since if the group becomes any size at all it will be hard to find all these different albums.

Probably the best way to do it is just to start a new thread under General Photography just as you've done with this post I'm replying to. Except, you would name it Challenge Ending March 19 (or whatever date). Then the first item in the thread defines the challenge and people would respond directly on that thread with their entries. The group forum would only be used for talking about the contest in general. Then each week or time period, you'd add a new topic to the General Photography forum with the same heading but different ending date. The resolution of each challenge would be a reply to the thread in question.

Well my thought was to post challenges and yes post in the group from the personal Photo Challenge Album.. this would allow us to soft critique photos entered which might include those too timid at this point to post thier picture in the forums. I realized that it was confusing and the format of the social groups is confusing in and of itself lol
So I think your suggestion is a good one and we should wait and see if more people have any ideas.. I think we can make it better and have fun with it. I hope you guys will come up with better challenges Thanks for your interest and thoughtful posts. Electricseashell

I think it's a great idea. I like the idea of a personal challenge with some feedback attached, and I'll look forward to participating.

but... Where are the Social Groups??????

I have looked everywhere and can't find them. If it is real obvious, Please don't rub it in toooo bad.

Just above this section of the forum in the sub bar you can find a tab that says quick links.. in the quick links about half way down is social groups. This place is huge and it looks to be getting bigger all the time. Welcome

There's a couple different ways to post photos both within the social group as well as the main forum. I'll attempt to answer the question I got today so maybe more of you will join us.

If you open a Post box just above the area where you type are command buttons. B I U left center right etc.
over on the right is a small yellow box which is for photos sort of looks like mountains and a sun.
If you already have the URL for the picture , you copy and paste the URL in. I'm not sure that it functions.. I may just test it to see. ( test ) test failed red x
Next you will see Album Pics, if you click on that it will open a box (allow pop ups) that has your personal albums. Choose the album then scroll to needed photo, copy the BB code and add it to your post (copy and paste)

Ok thats one way..
Of course when your loading your album I've gotten in the habit of uploading and then automatically going to get the BB code. Here's where the social groups added feature comes in.

Go to the image, in the bottom right corner above the codes is now a button that says add to group.

So, choose that option it will ask you which group and show you a list of groups you belong to. Currently there are two groups, the challenges and a test group. Only ones you have joined will show.
Once you follow the commands its automatically added to the social group.

When you add it to the social group each photo is given a comment section which is different than the comment section of your album and doesn't count in the album view count. So when you want to comment on a photo just click on the photo in the group and you will be given the larger print and comment box.

If you look today you will see my post on the current challenge
Which is for shutterbugs to do a fun glamour shoot..
and RFS posted his fun glamour shoot after mine.. but since it's posted in thread form we can't comment on it further without bumping the current challenge further down the board.

I hope I havent totally confused you maybe RFS would post screen shots further explaining this..
