Default Portfolios

So I really need to update my paper portfolios...the problem is, I am unsure how to put one together that is professional looking. The two (one for family photography and one for glamour) are okay, but they are a hodge-podge and leave much to be desired. Are there any books out there that could giude me in any way? I have had some tips from Rolando, but I never showed him my books (mostly out of embarrassment) and I have tried to use his tips, but I need some help here. Any ideas?

Here is a good article on considerations for a good portfolio. It includes examples and the thought process in creating one.

Ignore the title, and just read down the page.

Cheers,

How to Create a Portfolio of your Work
Great article. Thanks for posting. It really got me to thinking about it. I think I'm going to take a few of the shots I've done and put together in "Portfolio" style. Beats the heck out of scrapbooks. And during the process it will make me take a look at my pictures and my style a little closer. It's got to be a good learning exercise.

I Actually Have Used An Art Leather Wedding Book.I Used The Inserts That Are Color keyed Black So It Didn't Look Like A Wedding Book, I Used a Black Cover.Inscribed The Words Portfolio On It In Gold. You Would Be Supprised At The Repeted Good Reactions That I Recieve From Agencys An individuals Alike.
I Made One Cover In the Color ,ROSA And Titled It DIVAS For All of My Swimwear Models.
Another One Is For Stock Images,High School Seniors ETC.
Agencys Always Give Me A Good Reviews On This Way Of Presenting.
The New coffee Table books Could Work Also, However The Traditional Books Are Easier To Up Date/Change Pictures.

Never be scared to show me anything. We all start somewhere and I love spreading the gospel of photography. I highly recommend looking at this site for some great portfolios, BREWER-CANTELMO - Custom portfolio books, menu design & covers, sheet protectors, box presentations, bookbinding Mine is from them and even though they can be pricey, they last a long, long time. Thanks, rg sends!

I have recently started to transition to an electronic portfolio. My iPhone. Why? Easy, i have litteraly have hundreds of pictures on it, and all categorized to meet each style of photography that i shoot. So far, my clients love the idea, and if you get the cord for it that hooks up to a TV set, then you got it made.

Like i said, this may not work for everyone, but so far, it has been working for me.

Ohh, and it does not need to be an iphone. It can be an iPod Touch.
