Default High Key - Low Key

I neraly put this in the Which & Why group, but this forum seems like it needs some more posts as the moment.

I wanted to experiment with high key lighting, so I set up the first picture with my macro flashlight plus a speedlite to blow the background. I'm not sure it worked so I tried again with just the macro lite and a black background. Any preferences?

The plant is a Torenia, used as a trailing plant in hanging baskets. I'd never noticed before how scary it looks close up - especially as it reminds me of a trifid.

I Really Like the Black Background.Looking At all That Vibrant Contrast On The White Bkg Is Like Someone Aiming A Flashlite Right In Your Face.
Good Job On The Black Bkg!

Black background.

Have you tried backlighting it? Flashlight with a home made snoot to give a luminus punch to the petals.
