Default I'm so Blue ...

I felt like something blue. This is an interesting shade of blue. I'm not sure what kind of a flower this is, but it looks nice with the background thrown out of focus.

Comments and questions are welcome.

Cheers,
rfs

My personal opinion is that the red leaf really distracts from the overall shot. (My brain says: "Is it a Venus Fly-trap about to eat the flowers? Is it a split-open watermelon? Argh! I want to know what it is so that I can stop focusing on it!") The detail on the flowers is quite exquisite as is the delicacy and tonal range of the blue, but the red keeps drawing my eye past the flowers and keeps me from focusing on an otherwise fantastic subject for very long.

There are so many things right in this shot, but that red just bugs me.

Just my 2¢.

Surprisingly, I actually framed it to include that red thing because I liked the juxtaposition of color that it formed. I think without the splash of red, there would be too little going on betwixt background and flower. Again, its a very subjective thing.

I'll be interested to see other reactions on the color choices here.

Note: By the way, here is a photo showing the red thing and the blurred blue flower (the red thing looks like a bird's head).

Cheers,
rfs
