Default Thinking Spring

After a long winter stuck indoors I'm looking forward to more spring flowers, I would appreciate any suggestions. This photo was taken last spring from a planter so I was able to view it at eye level sitting on the ground.

For me, the left side is too much of a distraction beccause of the shallow depth of field and the size of that area effected by it. Perhaps a different crop would help with that.

Yes, I agree with RSS, and I would add, Move around the plant so the Background is less distacting...With Flowers, you can bring along a freind to hold up a large peice of white or gray board behind the flower to use the background..

What a pretty blue these are...I have a few weeks yet, maybe in April, before the blooms come out..Now we have a lot of buds all over the place.

Question Re: Thinking Spring

I took several shots.. I think its possible I could crop and drop one or more of those others.. I thought the tree in the background brought out the blue.
I appreciate the suggestion of holding my own backdrop. Will a white backdrop change the color ? Would shooting against black allow me to photoshop later to a better background? easier than white? harder?

Beautiful color, but I have to agree that the out-of-focus flowers in the front are too distracting.

Thanks.

I think shooting against a white BG would be easier to PS out and add what you want. you would have a greater color deferential for the PS magic wand to trace. you may want to feather 2-3 pixels too..Not too edge intrusive, and adds a smoother transition from selection to the subject.

The white BD could pick some blue if it too close...Keep it about 3 feet away.

I am goimg to make a Spring Flower Gallery at my Personal web Site this year. It should be done around May/June.. I'm lookimg forward to do it this year..I don't work on weekends anymore, so, I have the time now.

I like this better...the detail really stands out...

Keep experimenting..The best way to learn a photo Editor is to try new tools and experiment to get the results.(along with the Help files)..there are may ways to get to the same end results. Some offer a better way, some are just time consuming.

Thanks, and yeah trial , error and help files.. I noticed only after posting that I didn't completely fill the blank I used to create this one. I got very frustrated. My daughter is a graphic artist and will be down here Tuesday morning for coffee and visiting before she flys off to Florida for Spring Break. She is really good at it so I will get her to show me some of the features or how to back out faster lol I'd rather take a decent photo so I didn't want to edit
