I know alot of sites require that you upload at least one image to have your account approved. Is there a way to do that. Since this site is about photography then doesnt it stand to reason that every member should have at least 1 image in their albums here?

We're working on some new things, but I wouldn't make it mandatory, at least not yet, as you have a lot of "lurkers" that learn from others and don't want to show their photographic abilities quite yet. But stay-tuned, just like the new "All Albums" link now in the menu, some new things to come without affecting the core of the site. Thanks, rg.

I was reluctant to post my images.. I am not a professional and it looks like there are quite a few professionals.. But I'm also bolder than most
At some point I would think it should be mandatory to participate either in posting or sharing. ( I like the All Album new feature)

I agree. There will always be people who may not have any photos that they've taken. A painter, a art critic, an illustrator, etc. all may be able to offer valuable photo critiques, but would not have photos of their own. I don't think we should exclude such people.
Cheers,
rfs

"Welcome to ShotCritic.com, a premiere photographic community dedicated to constructive, not destructive, critiques of photographs by photographers of all levels of experience. "

That is from the front page... Where do you see that this forum is for people other then photographers? I stand by what I said. If you are gonna comment or critique you better have at least one image uploaded.

For me it isnt about how great your images are. It gives me an idea of where you are coming from when you critique an image.

Where do you see that it is only for photographers? The sentence is such that "by photographers" modifies "photographs" not "community." Otherwise it would read, "... premiere community of photographers dedicated to constructive..."

Here I am putting myself in a debate between admins -- good thing I don't live in Texas!

Well I think both of you are quibbling a bit. I can read the sentence to say what each of you is trying to make it say. But I wonder if RG worded it to exclude all but photographers or if he had something else in mind?

So in my view, I think we should wait for RG to express is opinion on the matters.

My own opinion is that, if we exclude all but photographers from making critiques, that we will weaken the overall goal of the site --- to create better photographers.

Cheers,
rfs

Valid point... But I guess my interpretation is different then yours. And what is better then being right smack in the middle of a good debate?
