The usual behavior of the CODE tag is to stop processing of other tags. It's generally used to explain how to code something.
For example, Ralph asked how to post an image. To give the exact syntax for that would of course result in the display of an image rather than the text he needs to type. The CODE tag (on other forums) allows an explanation for people asking such questions. Its syntax is:
(Please note the above is an image not actual text ... so that you can see it!)
Here is what happens when the above is actually entered:

And that ain't pretty!
It should look like:

But note that I had to change the [] to () to get the example above. And that is confusing to most people who would ask a question on how to use the tags.
RG -- you may have set limits on the behavior of the CODE tag ... or maybe its behavior on this forum is different.
