Heh. Sometimes I hate it when people point that stuff out. Now that's all I can see.

But this is a critique site and that's the stuff that will make them better..

I like the cropped version of number 1 because of the cropped wrinkles in the gown. But don't really care for her stare into thin air.
I agree the third is a nice professional shot.

Both shots are nice. Great model and lighting (reflection aside...now we know why it's called "Lip Glass" eh?). Her gaze may be a bit too elevated as it has created canoes under her irises might be best avoided.

I think the last needs a bit more contrast. I'd suggest bringing up both the blacks and whites slightly. I don't think you've got much if any data at either end.

As ESS points out, this is a critique site, so we all throw around our opinions, but we're just offering you minor stuff. If I'd taken those shots, I'd be proud of them. Especially since what we're pointing out is easily changed in post.

I agree... When we post images for critiques, and the images are over all good images then we start picking at the little things. Those little things are what can really make or break a shot in alot of cases.

A few years ago I was given a little piece of advice about images and how to determine if it is a good image or not. Essentially it is, "You weigh the positives against the negatives and if the positives overcome the negatives then you have a shot that works.

In this case, the lip reflection is very minor in my mind, the canoe effect is a little more bothersome to me. I should have caught that in camera.

On the last image, the blacks all have detail on my monitor which is calibrated to my lab.

I will post a few more when I get them edited.

Thanks everyone for your comments. They are appreciated

Scott

Definitely agree there!

...oh, what I meant was that to my monitor (calibrated also) the blacks look a little grey. The background also looks very grey. So, I was just saying you could increase the contrast a bit. You're no doubt managing the colorspace for print though and that's the correct thing to be doing anyway. We can't be all that certain I see what you do once it's up on the web.

I am glad you clarified that. I thought you were saying that you werent seeing detail in the black. The background is very grey. I will look at the larger version though. You may be right. I will be posting more that have a white background as well.
