Re: I love Infra-Red Photography
There are three ways to get IR pictures.
1 Photoshop.
2 a camera that is converted to take IR photos
and 3 the use of filter.
to explain what it is, Infra-red is emitted light beyond the "Visible" spectrum that humans can see in. The use of a converted camera or filters actually blocks out light that we can see and accepts light that we cannt see but the camera can process and create an image from. There are a few problems with this 1 it is difficult to frame with the filter on ( you cannot see through it) and 2 the focusing point in IR is actually different than in the visible light spectrum. If you have any older manual focusing lenses around take a look at the focusing ring, on it you may see a red line/arrow or dot. this was how to focus for film cameras using IR negative film. The easiest way to get around the focusing point is use a very small aperature opening to get the greatest DOP. You have to use a tripod anyway (average shutter speeds are anywhere from 2 to 15 seconds). But I think it is worth it with the weird otherwordly effects it gives.
